Flying privately to Hamilton Island
The runway is on the island. The aircraft is matched to the day, not chosen from a fleet.
Hamilton Island, Queensland
Hamilton Island is one of the few places in Australia where a jet runway, a harbour and a set of private homes sit within minutes of each other.
That is why a private aircraft from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or further is not a flourish. It is how the week actually starts.
WAYPOINT AIR does not own or operate aircraft. We read the route, the party, the luggage and the day, then match a certified operator and an aircraft class to it.
Where the aircraft, conditions and operator approvals allow it, you land on Hamilton Island itself. Where they do not, the arrival is planned through a mainland airport with the onward connection built in and confirmed before you leave.
We do not publish a runway length. The operator and the aircraft decide that, not a webpage.
How the flight is actually put together
Brief · Match · Confirm
- 01 Brief
Route, passengers, baggage, timing, airport access, and whether the flight sits inside a wider stay.
- 02 Match
A suitable aircraft class and reviewed operators able to perform the flight as briefed.
- 03 Confirm
Aircraft, operator, schedule, terms and price in writing before anything is committed.
Before an option is put in front of you, we read the route, passengers, baggage, timing, airports and the operating requirements of the day. The aircraft is the answer to that reading, not the starting point.
Which aircraft
We do not hold a fleet. Five fixed-wing classes and three helicopter formats are described on WAYPOINT AIR by what they are genuinely good at. Six guests from Sydney is comfortably within a light or midsize jet; the sensible departure point depends on the operator, the aircraft and slot availability rather than a rule.
Passenger bands are indicative. Seats, baggage and fuel compete with one another on every leg. Golf clubs, dive kit and a week's worth of bags are part of the brief, not an afterthought.
What happens after you land
Cars are not how you move on Hamilton Island. Buggies are. Arrival transfer, buggy numbers, keys, provisioning and the residence handover are arranged so the first hour is not spent organising anything.
If the week also needs a house and a yacht day, the same contact holds that brief. The flight is not a separate booking that the rest of the week has to catch up with.
Questions, answered plainly
- Do you own the aircraft?
No. Flights are performed by appropriately certified third-party air charter operators. WAYPOINT coordinates the brief, the match and the confirmation.
- Can you land on Hamilton Island?
Hamilton Island has its own runway. Where the aircraft, conditions and operator approvals allow it, you land on the island. Where they do not, the arrival is planned through a mainland airport with the onward connection confirmed before you leave.
- Can the flight and the house be one brief?
Yes. That is the point. AIR, STAY, SEA and EXPERIENCE held as one journey, through one contact.
- What does it cost?
There is no public rate card. Price belongs to the specific aircraft, operator, route, timing and positioning. Commission is agreed for each confirmed booking and made clear in the proposal.
- How should an EA brief this?
Send the route, passenger count, baggage, preferred timing, and whether you already hold a house. If dates are known, include them. We come back with the sensible options, including the ones that are not a charter.
The journey. The place. The memory.
