WAYPOINT EXPERIENCE coordinates destination experiences and local arrangements — tables, road journeys, island days, wilderness, water and culture — across Australia and the near Pacific. We are building relationships with hosts, guides, cooks, skippers, pilots and makers slowly, and by introduction rather than by directory.
The days are planned by the same contact who arranges the aircraft, the vessel and the house, so an experience is booked into a journey rather than bolted onto it.

We are speaking with quality operators and hosts to be considered for editorial features and future partnerships. Small is welcome. Seasonal is welcome. Being the only person who does it is very welcome.
What we look for
- A genuine relationship with the place, not a licence to visit it
- Hosts who can carry a small group without a script
- Safety, insurance and permits in order
- A reason the day could not be repeated elsewhere
- Capacity to be looked after properly, in season
Drive days
Instruction, access and countryDays where the vehicle is the reason to be there — taught properly, or driven somewhere you could not otherwise go. Programmes are run by their operators and change with season and conditions; we plan the travel, the stay and the timing around them.

Thredbo and Kosciuszko National Park, New South Wales
Guided off-road vehicle experience · commonly a half day
Green season access differs from winter; the mountain decides.
High-country driving on tracks that are closed to ordinary traffic, with a guide who knows which spur opens up and when. It is less about speed than about reach — river crossings, ridge lines and country you would otherwise only see from the chairlift. Pairs neatly with a night or two on the mountain.
D—02 BMW M Snow & Ice Experience
Queenstown, New Zealand
Instructor-led ice driving · commonly one to two days
Southern winter, roughly July to August, subject to conditions.
Car control taught properly, on a frozen surface where every input is exaggerated and every mistake is instructive. Instruction runs in short, repeated sessions, so the day is genuinely tiring and genuinely useful. Queenstown does the rest: a lake house, an early dinner and someone else driving you back.

A proper day on a closed circuit with instructors in the car and a programme that builds rather than indulges. Braking, vision and line first, pace afterwards. It suits a milestone birthday, a father-and-daughter weekend or a group that would rather do something than watch something.

01 The Great Barrier Reef, by air and sea
Fly the outer reef in the morning to understand its shape, then be on the water by lunch. Seen from both, the reef stops being a single destination and becomes a system of cays, ribbons and blue holes you can move between.
02 Uluru, Country and Field of Light
Two days is enough to walk the base at first light, sit with Anangu knowledge of the place and stand in Bruce Munro's installation after dark. The rock is not a photograph; it changes hourly, and the silence does most of the work.
03 The Kimberley, by expedition yacht
Ten days of tide, gorge and waterfall on a vessel with its own tenders and, often, its own helicopter. The itinerary follows the water rather than the calendar, and the season is short enough that planning starts a year out.
04 Ningaloo, and swimming with whale sharks
A reef you can reach from the beach, and a season when the largest fish in the ocean move along it. Spotter aircraft find them, the boat positions and you slip in. Sal Salis and the cape make it a week rather than a day.
05 Sydney Harbour, by private yacht
The city makes sense from the water. A day charter with a long lunch, a swim off a quiet beach in the middle harbour and a run under the bridge at dusk is still the best day Sydney offers.
06 Lord Howe Island
Limited visitor numbers, no crowds and a lagoon you can cross on foot at low tide. Two hours from Sydney by air, and a place where the day narrows honestly to walking, snorkelling and eating.
07 Barossa cellars and a long lunch
Old vines, cool cellars and growers who will open something from before you were born if the conversation earns it. Build the day around one lunch that runs late and one tasting you were not expecting.
08 Kangaroo Island and Southern Ocean Lodge
A cliff-top lodge facing weather that arrives from Antarctica, on an island that regenerated in front of everyone. Beaches, sea lions and a kitchen that stays close to home.
09 The Daintree and Silky Oaks
Rainforest that meets reef, and a lodge on the Mossman River where the swimming hole is the point. Guided walks with local knowledge turn a green wall into something you can actually read.
10 Tasmania, by air, water and road
A seaplane out of Hobart, a boat on the channel and three unhurried days of driving the east coast. The island is small enough to combine all three in a week, and better for it.
