The Noosa Stay List

Hotels when you want to walk everywhere. Houses when the group is right. Hinterland when the coast has had enough of you.

Noosa, Queensland

Back to the Noosa hub

Noosa is not difficult to understand. The hard part is leaving enough of it alone.

There is Main Beach, Little Cove and the National Park. The river turns west behind Noosa Sound. Sunshine Beach sits over the hill. Twenty minutes inland the temperature drops and the landscape changes.

You do not need a different hotel every two nights to experience any of it.

Choose the right base. Learn what the wind is doing. Keep lunch flexible.

These are the Noosa stays we would start with.

Hotel

If you want the week to run from Hastings Street and Main Beach, these are the hotel addresses we would start with. Rooms, rates and availability are confirmed directly during planning.

Elysium NoosaHastings Street, Noosa Heads

The reimagined 175-room resort on Hastings Street, and the current benchmark for a hotel stay in Noosa Heads. Wellness sits at the centre of it rather than being appended to it.

Take this when the week should run on foot: beach in the morning, lunch on the street, nothing that requires a car.

WAYPOINT forWalk-everywhere weeks / wellness / Main Beach.

Netanya NoosaHastings Street, Noosa Heads

Directly on Main Beach with apartment-style accommodation, which suits families and longer stays better than a conventional hotel room does.

The advantage is simple and hard to beat: you are already on the sand.

WAYPOINT forFamilies / beachfront / apartment-style stays.

Reference ↗

Tingirana NoosaHastings Street, Noosa Heads

Beachfront, a pool that gets used, and the whole of Hastings Street at the door. A practical, well-placed base rather than a destination in itself.

WAYPOINT forCouples and families / short stays / walking everywhere.

No.1 HastingsHastings Street, Noosa Heads

Apartment-style at the Laguna Bay end of Hastings Street, which makes it a sensible option for a longer stay where a kitchen and some separation matter.

WAYPOINT forLonger stays / Laguna Bay / space without a house.

Homes

Noosa is better in a house when the group is right. Beachfront, Little Cove, Noosa Sound or somewhere with enough reason to stay home for the afternoon. These are featured or recommended residences rather than WAYPOINT-owned inventory; house detail, access and terms are confirmed directly during planning.

Domic NoosaSunshine Beach

An architectural residence at Sunshine Beach, over the hill from Noosa Heads and a quieter proposition entirely. Surf out the front, a village that still behaves like one, and a house designed to be lived in rather than photographed.

WAYPOINT forArchitecture / couples and small groups / Sunshine Beach.

10 Noosa ParadeNoosa Heads / Noosa Sound

A private waterfront residence on Noosa Parade, on the Sound side of Noosa Heads and within walking distance of Hastings Street.

We feature it editorially. Details, access and availability are confirmed during planning rather than published here.

WAYPOINT forGroups / waterfront / walking distance to Hastings Street.

Ghost Estate on the SoundNoosa Sound

Waterfront on the Sound with a private jetty, which changes how the week runs: the boat comes to the house, lunch is a short trip up the river, and the afternoon does not require a car park.

WAYPOINT forGroups / boat days / Noosa Sound.

Reference ↗

OspreyPeregian Beach

Beachfront architecture at Peregian, further south and further away from the traffic. This is the choice when the group wants space and the beach rather than Hastings Street.

WAYPOINT forGroups / beachfront / a quieter coast.

Raintrees — 3/22 Mitti Street, Little CoveLittle Cove, Noosa Heads

Little Cove is the best address in Noosa for people who intend to walk: the National Park entrance is at the end of the street and Main Beach is a few minutes the other way.

Raintrees is an exclusive enclave on Mitti Street, set against the rainforest edge, and the location does most of the work.

WAYPOINT forLittle Cove / National Park mornings / couples and families.

BoonburrhNoosa

An architectural Noosa house within the local luxury collection, suited to a group that wants the residence to carry part of the week rather than just provide beds.

WAYPOINT forGroups / architecture / Laguna Bay.

Laguna Bay VistaNoosa Heads

Elevated above Laguna Bay with the view doing the explaining. Good for a group that will happily spend an afternoon at home between a morning walk and a late lunch.

WAYPOINT forGroups / views / longer stays.

Hinterland

Twenty minutes inland and Noosa changes quickly. Cooler nights, more space, better reason to light a fire, and a completely different pace.

AmarDoonan

A Paul Clout-designed residence at Doonan, and one of the most considered pieces of architecture in the hinterland. Views across the ridgelines, a house built around light and air rather than square metres.

We include it editorially. Access is confirmed during planning; we make no claim about availability or terms.

WAYPOINT forArchitecture / hinterland / a house as the reason to travel.

Casa RenoirEumundi

Design-led and distinctly Mediterranean in feel, set in the hills behind Eumundi. It suits a stay built around cooking, swimming and doing very little between the two.

WAYPOINT forCouples and small groups / design / slow weeks.

Bundaleer Retreat NoosaDoonan

Rainforest, space and a wellness orientation, twenty minutes from the coast. Better for a group that intends to stay put than one planning to drive in and out each day.

WAYPOINT forGroups / wellness / rainforest.

Thirlestane FarmCooroy

Farm country behind Cooroy, and the most relaxed version of a Noosa stay. Paddocks, long tables, room for children and dogs, and the coast still close enough for a morning swim.

WAYPOINT forFamily and friends / farm stays / slow travel.

Dining

Off Hastings Street

Noosa's best meals are not always on the beach. The hinterland is worth the drive when the right table is the reason to go.

The WoodshedKin Kin, Noosa hinterland

A reason to leave Hastings Street and head inland. The Woodshed sits in Kin Kin, half an hour from the coast, in a valley that feels a long way from the beach.

The cooking is produce-led and confident, the room is relaxed, and the drive itself is part of the evening. Pair it with a hinterland stay or a slow day inland rather than a round trip from Noosa Heads.

WAYPOINT forA hinterland day or stay, a long lunch that becomes dinner, leaving the coast behind.

5 nights / Noosa proper

One base. Two early mornings. One day inland.

  • Day 1 / arrive, walk, early dinner

Arrive, settle, walk to the beach before dark and eat early. Do not book anything ambitious for the first night.

  • Day 2 / National Park, Little Cove, long lunch

Coastal track at first light, coffee on Hastings Street, swim at Little Cove, then a lunch with no finishing time.

  • Day 3 / river and Noosa Sound

Private boat mid-morning, a sandbank anchorage and a swim, lunch up the river and back down as the light flattens.

  • Day 4 / hinterland, Eumundi or Doonan

Market at opening if it is a Wednesday or Saturday, then the drive through Doonan, Cooroy and Kin Kin. Back for a late swim.

  • Day 5 / unscheduled

Beach, surf, a second walk or nothing at all. Dinner at the house if you are in one.

  • Day 6 / depart

One last swim before the transfer if the tide allows it.

7 nights / Noosa, slower

A full week, moved around the weather rather than a plan.

  • Day 1 / arrive

Settle in. Walk. Eat locally. Nothing fixed.

  • Day 2 / National Park, Main Beach

Early on the headland track, then Main Beach while the bay is still glassy.

  • Day 3 / Noosa Sound by private boat, long lunch

The river in the middle of the day, lunch reached by boat, and the afternoon on the water.

  • Day 4 / slow beach day

Sunshine Beach or Little Cove depending on the swell. One coffee, one swim, one book.

  • Day 5 / Everglades or the upper river

Early start for the mirrored water above the lakes, guided and in a small group. Back by mid-afternoon.

  • Day 6 / hinterland, Eumundi, Doonan

Market, a hinterland lunch and the drive between the ridgelines. Mt Tinbeerwah on the way home if the light is good.

  • Day 7 / nothing fixed

The spare day is the point. Noosa is usually better once you stop checking the itinerary.

  • Day 8 / depart

    Breakfast, a walk, and out.

A note on Noosa

Noosa is easy to over-plan because everything looks close.

It is also easy to waste by spending the week driving between reservations.

The version we know is simpler. National Park early. Coffee after. Swim if the bay is good. Lunch without a finishing time. The river when the wind arrives. One day inland. A house or hotel you are happy to come back to before sunset.

There is plenty to do.

That does not mean you should do all of it.

The journey. The place. The memory.
